Computerisation Process

The Common Accounting System (CAS) and Management Information System (MIS) evolved for the STCCS units would form the basis for computerization. As the entire focus of computerization of societies is to streamline accounting and obtain standardized consolidated information from the output of CAS for use at various levels, preference is to be given initially to installation of CAS in PACS, even if it is to be maintained initially through manual operations.

An amount of Rs.516 crore has been provided for computerization of the accounting system in the STCCS.

As availability of power supply, communication links, education and understanding levels of PACS staff as well as business volumes significantly vary between States and even within a State, the respective SLIC would decide on the appropriate software solution for the PACS in the State. Guidelines for development, procurement and deployment of such a software were finalized by a Technical Committee headed by MD, NABARD.
