  • Excessive water flooding from Sahar Khand I and II
  • Creating infrastructure that would address twin issues – floods and damaged roads

THE SOLUTION

  • A vented causeway in the Old Samba Kathua Road sector was constructed and Kathua-Parole Road was upgraded under RIDF
  • A better drainage system was set up
  • The height of the existing bridge was increased
  • The surface of the Kathua-Parole Road was improve

THE IMPACT

  • An alternative route to NH 1-A
  • Better connectivity to markets in urban centres
  • Easier connectivity to adjoining fertile lands for cattle rearing and farming
  • Reduction in school dropout rates
  • Improved access to health care facilities
