  • Irregular supply of water and water deprivation for tail-end farmers

THE SOLUTION

  • NABARD sanctioned financial assistance under RIDF for improvement and modernisation of the Ukai and Kakrapar right bank main canals
  • Improvement work involved 96 kms of canal lining, fixing steel gates, strengthening 9 existing structures and construction of 18 new bridges

THE IMPACT

  • 1,20,054 hectares benefitted from the project
  • Approximately 25-30% savings in water
  • Increase in the overall water flow, benefiting tail-end farmers
