Irregular supply of water and water deprivation for tail-end farmers
THE SOLUTION
NABARD sanctioned financial assistance under RIDF for improvement and modernisation of the Ukai and Kakrapar right bank main canals
Improvement work involved 96 kms of canal lining, fixing steel gates, strengthening 9 existing structures and construction of 18 new bridges
THE IMPACT
1,20,054 hectares benefitted from the project
Approximately 25-30% savings in water
Increase in the overall water flow, benefiting tail-end farmers
