Innovative income generation activity for the unemployed
Beneficiaries:
Residents of Darkot village, Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand
The Challenge:
- Poor quality wool due to unscientific rearing of Angora rabbits
- Post-processing unit for Angora wool located far from the village
The Solution:

An innovative skill development project was sanctioned to the Johar Mahila
Janjatti Utthan Samiti for scientific rabbit farming

Training was provided to 5 villagers on Angora rearing; they later trained
other villagers

30 German Angora rabbits and a Common Facility Centre was provided to the
villagers
The Impact:
- Better quality and quantity of wool
- Additional source of income for women
- Development of a viable and replicable livelihood activity
