  • Non-availability of hygienic and good quality food on trains
  • Lack of entrepreneurial and managerial skills among SHG members

THE SOLUTION

  • NABARD sanctioned a grant assistance of Rs 6.23 lakh to the Lupin Human Welfare and Research Foundation for implementing a pilot project on Livelihood and Enterprises Development Programme (LEDP)
  • 30SHG women members of Maher Loksanchalit Sadhan Kendra were identified for supplying packaged food to IRCTC
  • Women trained in Malwani cuisine, hygiene, marketing, packaging and handling online orders

THE IMPACT

  • Delicious Malwani food served to IRCTC passengers through e-catering programme ‘Food on Track’
  • Considerable local demand for the food items
  • Financially and economically independent SHG members
