PMAY-G aims at providing a pucca house, with basic amenities, to all houseless households and those households living in kutcha and dilapidated house, by 2022. Around 2.95 crore house are to be constructed under PMAY-G by 2022 in a phased manner.
The nodal Ministry for PMAY-G is Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India (GoI) & the scheme is being implemented by the State/UT Govt.
Out of the total financial requirement towards Central Share of Rs.81,975 crore for construction of one crore houses under phase I over a period of 3 years (2016-17 to 2018-19), an amount of Rs.60,000 crore are expected to be met from budgetary sources and the balance financial requirement of Rs.21,975 crore are proposed to be met through borrowings from NABARD.
As on 30 June 2019, an amount of Rs.21,975 crore has been sanctioned and Rs.18008 crore has been released by NABARD to National Rural Infrastructure Development Authority(NRIDA), a nodal agency identified by MoRD for borrowing funds from NABARD, for part funding of central share under PMAY-G.
This has facilitated construction of 85.31 lakh houses in rural areas as against the target of one crore houses to be built during 2018-19 under PMAY-G.
