A Credit Outreach Programme was organized at Maharajganj district, Uttar Pradesh on 23 February 2024 by SBI (Lead bank of the district), SLBC UP and NABARD.

Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, GoI, was the Chief Guest of the event. The programme was attended by Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Finance, GoI; Dr. Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, GoI; Shri Shaji KV, Chairman, NABARD; Shri Dinesh Khara, Chairman, SBI; Shri Debadatta Chand MD & CEO, Bank of Baroda; Shri S.K.Dora, CGM, NABARD, UPRO; Senior officers of the banks, Govt and the Public representatives. The programme was attended by more than 10,000 farmers, entrepreneurs and members of SHGs.

Secretary DFS, GoI, highlighted the successful efforts made by the bankers and line departments in the overall development of the district. He emphasised that Maharajganj was one of the better performing districts in Uttar Pradesh (achieved 73% of its ACP targets till December 2023) and had a CD ratio of 67.03% along with an Agri-GLC flow of Rs. 1067.21 crore

Hon’ble FM congratulated bankers for the impressive performance of credit growth in the district and emphasised that CD ratio which was below the average of CD ratio of Uttar Pradesh 5 years ago has improved and is now more than the average of CD ratio of Uttar Pradesh. Hon’ble FM requested that farmer’s practising fisheries and animal husbandry should avail facility of credit and advised bankers to support such farmers and entrepreneurs.

Hon’ble FM awarded sanctions to the tune of Rs 26.20 crore for various NABARD projects in the Credit Outreach Programme, Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh. The financial support aims to improve rural infrastructure, enhance tribal livelihoods, and increase financial inclusion.
