Chairman NABARD participates in the Credit Outreach Programme at Chapra, Saran district, Bihar

Shri Shaji K V, Chairman, NABARD participated in the Credit Outreach Programme, chaired by Hon’ble Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, GoI, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman at Jai Prakash University ground in Chapra, Saran District, Bihar on 05 March 2024. The programme was attended by Shri Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, GoI; Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Shri. Janardan Singh Sigriwal, Hon’ble Members of Parliament, Dr. Vivek Joshi, IAS, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, GoI; Shri Shaji KV, Chairman, NABARD; Shri Dinesh Khare, Chairman, SBI; Shri M.V. Rao, CEO & MD, Central Bank of India; Dr. Sunil Kumar, CGM, NABARD, Bihar RO; and other Senior officers of the banks, Govt and the Public representatives. The programme was attended by more than 60,000 farmers, entrepreneurs, and members of SHGs.

Shri M.V. Rao, MD & CEO, Central Bank of India welcomed Hon’ble Finance Minister and other dignitaries, which was followed up by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

During the programme, Secretary, Finance GoB, received the sanction advice at the hands of Hon’ble FM for a loan amounting to Rs 253.86 crore for Construction of 1 State Level and 18 District level Animal Resources and Training Centers & Purchase of 200 Ambulatory Vans and 08 Animal Lifting and Carrying Vehicles. For enhancing the awareness and capacity building of farmers towards Climate Smart Agriculture, the sanction of NABARD grant amounting to Rs.13.65 lakh was announced. Furthering the objective of Financial Literacy, NABARD had sanctioned Rs. 45 lakhs for 3 mobile ATM and Demo Van to Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank and one of these vans was flagged off by the Hon’ble FM. Another sanction of a grant of Rs 8.04 lakh for LEDP on Embroidery & Painting on Cloth and its Marketing was also conveyed during the programme.

The Credit Outreach Programme saw the distribution of sanction letters by Hon’ble FM for credit worth of Rs. 1083.00 crore to 38,504 beneficiaries under various banking and govt. schemes. Out of total, an amount of Rs.267.98 crore and Rs.19.84 crore were sanctioned under SHG and KCC respectively.

During the function, DDM Saran was also felicitated by the Hon’ble FM which was a proud moment for the NABARD team.
