NABARD completed 32 years of its meaningful engagement in agriculture and rural finance space of the country on 12 July, 2014. In the three decades of its existence, NABARD has emerged as a key Development Financial Institution supporting the rural economy of our country. As NABARD enters the 33rd year of its dedicated service to the nation, a one day “National Seminar on Rural Finance” is being organised on 24 July 2014 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Union Finance Minister has kindly consented to inaugurate the Seminar.
The key issues flagged for discussion in the Seminar are
(i) Capital Formation in Agriculture and Rural Infrastructure
(ii) Rural Finance - State of the sector and
(iii) Microfinance and Livelihood Approaches. Theme papers on the above three topics will be presented by experts in the respective fields, commented upon by a panel of specialists / policy makers and deliberated upon during the Seminar.
The participants for the Seminar shall include officials of key Ministries of Govt of India, State Governments, Planning Commission, Reserve Bank of India, Commercial Banks, Cooperative Banks, Regional Rural Banks, eminent academicians, scientists from agricultural research institutes/universities, ICAR, international organisations, industry leaders in the area of agriculture, Panchayat Raj Institutions and NGOs. Participation is by invitation only.
