A walkathon was organised by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) here on Thursday as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations in line with the mandate prescribed by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
Over 400 employees of the institution took part in the walkathon, which was flagged off by Shri Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairman, NABARD. The event, based on this year’s theme “Eradicate Corruption - Build a New India”, also saw participation from more than 15 other entities including Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Dena Bank, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Shipping Corporation of India, Indian Rare Earths Ltd., etc. under the banner of Vigilance Study Circle, Mumbai chapter.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. S. Srimathy said, “Commitment to honesty and integrity are not just words to us, but engrained in the ethos of NABARD. I am happy that we, at NABARD, have organised the walkathon during the Vigilance Awareness Week to spread the message beyond the walls of the institution.”
NABARD is observing Vigilance Awareness Week from 29 October to 03 November 2018 by conducting gram sabhas, seminars and competitions to spread awareness among the masses. Students from various colleges and schools across the country are also being involved.
