NABARD celebrated 70th Republic Day of India at its headquarters in Mumbai with much pomp and show. Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairman hoisted the National Flag in the presence of Shri H R Dave, DMD, Shri R Amalorpavanathan, DMD and hundreds of enthusiastic senior officers and staff members.

 

 

Highlighting the importance of political and economic freedom in the development of India, Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala said that all efforts should be made to fulfill the mandate entrusted to NABARD. Underlying the unique role played by NABARD, he remarked that the country has moved from food scarcity to food sufficiency and today the country is one of the leading exporters of several food commodities. He stressed upon the importance of bridging the urban-rural divide, gender equality and fulfillment of rural aspirations in India. He reiterated that NABARD is a transparent and honest organisation and assured NABARD’s contribution to the efforts made by Government of India in fostering rural development. 

 

A patriotic musical programme by the staff members and children was the highlight of the day.
