Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairman, NABARD has been conferred Doctorate of Science, Honoris Causa, by ICAR Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai. The degree was awarded during the 14th Convocation of ICAR-CIFE on 22nd April 2019. Incidentally, he was also awarded honorary doctorate in Science by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, earlier.

 

The doctorate has been conferred to Dr. Bhanwala for the leadership he gave for the works initiated by NABARD such as EShakti - the project for digitisation of the world's largest microfinance programme, management of UNFCC, GCF, NAFCC climate change funds and his contributions to other rural development activities including promotion of Fisheries sector in the country.

 

Dr. Bhanwala also holds position as the Chairman of Bankers Institute of Rural Development, NABCONS, Board of Supervision of NABARD, Vice Chairman of Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association and member of Board of DICGC, IRMA, SFAC, NCDC and NIBM.
