Gond Painting

The Gond tribal community is one of the biggest indigenous groups in central India, and their art reflects their ongoing struggle for survival. The distinctive styles serve as the foundation of this tribal art form and are inextricably linked to the surface ornamental patterns and motifs.

The artform

"Viewing a good image begets good luck" is a belief reflected in Gond art. The Gonds used traditional tattoos and designs to decorate their homes and floors as a result of this ingrained conviction. But since then, gifted artists have translated Gondi art onto canvas and paper, exhibiting their abilities.
