Sharbati Gehu

Also known as the Golden Grain, Madhya Pradesh’s popular Sharbati gehu or wheat is a prized produce. Sehore district is the largest producer of Sharbati wheat in the country.

The produce

The finest flour in the nation is produced from Sharbati wheat. As the name implies, Sharbati wheat has a somewhat sweeter flavour than other wheat varieties. This is most likely because it contains a little bit more simple sugars, such as sucrose and glucose, than other wheat varieties. Since wheat is a Rabi crop, it is planted in the winter. Wheat is sown from October through December, and it is harvested from February through May.
