Banaras Langda Aam (Mango)

It is believed that a Shiva temple in Varanasi is where the Banarasi Langra first appeared more than 250 years ago. The water and soil composition of the area give this native mango its distinct flavor.

The produce

Langra is prized for its exquisite scent, deep, nuanced flavor, skin as thin as a sheath, and generous amount of flesh. Typically, the second part of July is when it is harvested. The Langra mango has a distinct appearance and personality. Its skin tone is yellowish and incredibly light.

This much-loved fruit was awarded with the GI tag in 2023.
