Batik combines art and craft since it involves the use of one's hands to create artistically designed patterns and a methodical approach to the waxing and designing process. Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain is well-known for this specific print design.
The artform
For batik printing and dyeing, melted wax is used. For generations, this art has been skilfully continued. Batik printing is a challenging but intriguing procedure. The cloth is first dyed before a designated area is covered with hot wax for printing. Wax-covered areas withstand the dye and maintain their original hue. The fabric used for styling is removed once the laborious waxing and dying process is completed.
