A multi-stakeholder seminar was organized by NABARD on 26th September 2023, under the chairmanship of Dr. Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The meeting was also graced by Dr. M P Tangirala, Additional Secretary, DFS and Shri Shaji K V, Chairman, NABARD and senior official from SEBI, SIDBI, NSE and BSE.

Dignitaries like Shri. Sivasubramanian Ramann, CMD, SIDBI; Shri S V Muralidhar Rao, Executive Director, SEBI as well as various senior officers from SEBI, SIDBI, BSE, NSE and ISAI also participated in the seminar. The seminar provided a common platform to the not-for-profit organizations, donors, regulators and social auditors. During the event, the need for structured social funding and the importance of Social Stock Exchange (SSE) in ensuring the same were emphasized. Officers from SEBI highlighted the framework of the Social Stock Exchange. NPOs were provided guidance regarding the methodology of listing their projects on the SSE and raising funds through the platform. The representatives of NPOs pitched their projects to the donors for raising funds, during the process many of their queries were cleared which subsequently led to a lively discussion on the funding of projects.

Secretary, DFS, in his concluding remarks underscored the uniqueness of the Social Stock Exchange initiative of India by highlighting that India holds a unique position in the world given the size of its social sector and the plethora of the socially minded funders in the country.
