District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad has called upon the rural youth to develop skills and take up entrepreneurship and emerge as job creators instead of being job seekers.

At the inaugural of National Entrepreneurship Day celebrations organised jointly by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Rural Self-employment Training Institute at the RSETI on Thursday, he stressed on the need for skilling the youth to meet the demand for manpower.

“The entrepreneurship development efforts, enterprises started by youth will lead to employment generation and overall development”, he said.

These two would address the twin problems of unemployment and lack of skilled manpower for the industries, he said and called upon the youth to utilise the training opportunity to become entrepreneurs. He opined that small enterprises in the villages would be more productive and generate more employment and livelihood security than large industries.

The National Entrepreneurship Day was organised with the theme of providing appropriate skills with adequate credit for promoting entrepreneurship among rural youth. NABARD AGM R. Ravi Babu explained about ongoing government schemes such as National Skill Development Mission, PM KuashalVikasYojana, Prime Minister Mudra Yojana and Stand Up India, etc.

The support available from the NABARD for skill development was also explained. RSETI director Dattadri, and Telangana Grameena Bank regional manager Krishnaiah shared their role in entrepreneurship development.
