The State Credit Seminar was organised by NABARD, Gujarat RO on 26 March 2018 at the Narmada Hall, Swarnim Sankul, Gandhinagar, for presentation of the State Focus Paper for the year 2018-19 and Launch of Area Development Scheme (State Level) for the period 2018-23.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri. Vijay Rupani was the Chief Guest which was also graced by Shri. Nitin Patel, Deputy Chief Minister, Govt of Gujarat, Shri. R C Faldu, Minister of Agriculture, Shri. Ishwarsinh Patel, Minister of Co-operation and Shri Jaydrathsinhji C Parmar, Minister of State Agriculture.
The Seminar was also attended by Shri Sanjay Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Co-operation Department, GoG, Shri. Arvind Agrawal, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Shri J K Dash, Regional Director, RBI, Shri V S Khichi, GM Dena Bank and Convenor, SLBC Gujarat and other senior officials from various departments of the Government of Gujarat, besides bankers and other stakeholders.
Welcoming the participants, Shri. Sunil Chawla, General Manager, NABARD, Gujarat RO informed the gathering that NABARD has finalized the PLPs and State Focus Paper for the year 2018-19 which has been drawn in tune with the macro level objectives of Doubling of Farmers Income by 2022 as envisaged by Govt. of India and the State Government as also the seven point strategy for doubling of farmer income, as announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister. Shri Chawla also apprised the house about the Area Development Scheme of NABARD which was also launched in the State Credit Seminar. Shri. Chawla later apprised the house about the achievements of NABARD in Gujarat and the interventions sought from the State Government and Banks.
Shri. M C Thakkar, General Manager, made a brief presentation on the State Focus Paper, various initiatives of NABARD in Gujarat, and articulated the expectations of NABARD from the State Government and Bankers.
The State Focus Paper and the Area Development Schemes prepared was released by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri. Vijay Rupani. Further achievers in various areas / fields like Financial Inclusion, SHG Bank Linkage, Rural Innovation, Water Campaign etc. were also given awards for their contribution in their respective areas.
The
Hon’ble Chief Minister lauded the efforts of NABARD, Gujarat RO for the credit planning exercise and urged the banking network and the various stake holders in the State to realize the planned credit potential. He emphasized that our country being a agriculture dependent country, Rural Development is necessary to enable the farmers to be self- sufficient and also bring back the youth to the agriculture sector. He lauded the efforts of NABARD in being a partner in various State Government initiatives like Jyoti Gram Yojana, SAUNI and Narmada Projects.
Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister also lauded the efforts of NABARD in bringing out the State Focus Paper and also the contribution of NABARD, Gujarat RO in the development of agriculture sector. He further sought NABARD Gujarat’s help in promoting dairy sector and creation of new godowns to achieve the target of doubling of farmer income by 2022.
