NABARD launches Climate Literacy Campaign through plantation in Odisha's

The Nabard has launched a programme named ‘Climate Literacy Campaign’ and a plantation drive, which would be undertaken under a collective mode in all 30 districts of the State till August 31.
Forests and Environment Minister Bijayshree Routray inaugurated the campaign in the presence of Nabard CGM Dr KC Panigrahi, Additional Chief Conservator of Forest AK Pathak, Nabard officials, representatives of NGOs and farmers from different districts.
 
Welcoming the participants, the Nabard CGM stated that the campaign would continue till August 31 during which approximately 30 lakh saplings would be planted across the State in coordination with the Forests and Environment Department. Besides four climate literacy campaigns would be conducted in each district involving all the stakeholders to educate the villagers about impact of climate change and possible solution to adapt and mitigate the impact.
On August 10, district-level awareness programme on climate literacy and plantation activity were conducted in each district involving Government officials, NGOs, bankers and other stakeholders.
 
Minister Routray appreciated the Nabard’s efforts to launch such a huge campaign across the State apart from their normal activity. He requested all the participants to whole heartedly support the campaign for betterment of the future generation. He also requested the Nabard to carry on such programmes every year.
 
Notably, the Nabard had undertaken a campaign named “Water Conservation” in 5,556 villages in the State in 2017. The campaign received encouraging response. It successfully demonstrated local technologies for efficient conservation and management of water resources and promotion of climate resilient agriculture through community involvement.
