NABARD doing excellent work to uplift farmers...

While addressing as Chief Guest on 38th foundation day of National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD), on Monday, Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu said that the bank has done excellent work in providing credit in rural areas especially for farmers and self help groups to increase farm produce and employment in farm sector.
 
The Governor also appreciated the role of NABARD in rural development, especially for the interventions on financial inclusion, empowering rural women, natural resource management, rural infrastructure and institutional support.
“Jharkhand contributes 40 per cent of total revenue collected by Government of India from its mining sector but irony is that 70 per cent of total population still lives on agriculture. We have to do much in this sector as Prime Minister set the target to double income of the farmers till 2022,” said Murmu.
 
She wished NABARD to take more such steps for enriching rural poor.
 
In his inaugural address Chief General Manager, NABARD Ashish Kumar Padhi highlighted NABARD’s contributions for socio economic development of Rural India and Empowerment of Women. He appraised the house on the role of NABARD for taking forward the journey of SHG movement. NABARD, who is the pioneer of SHG movement since last three decades, has promoted more than 49000 SHGs in Jharkhand.
 
Padhi said that there is no end of development we have done many work to uplift farm sector of the State but still we have to go a very long. 
 
A booklet on ‘NABARD in Jharkhand’ was released during the occasion. A lecture on the theme of “Doubling of Farmers Income in the context of Jharkhand” was delivered by Director, IIM Ranchi, Shailendra Singh.
On the occasion NABARD Jharkhand Regional Office organised State level Self Help Group (SHG) Award Ceremony. General Manager, RBI, Sanjiv Dayal, General Manager SLBC, CS Sahay, Director IIM, Ranchi, Shailendra Singh. Senior Government Officials, Bankers, academicians, SHG members and partner agencies graced the occasion.
 
SHG Members from Ramgarh, Saraikela, East Singhbhum and Animators of E-Shakti implemented districts were felicitated. The contributions of various banks such as JRGB, Bank of India, HDFC and Bandhan Banks implementing the SHG and JLG Bank Linkage Programme were also recognised.
