NABARD-sponsored candle making training concludes

NAMSAI, Dec 28: A training programme on candle making for self help groups of Namsai district under the micro enterprise development programme (MEDP), concluded here on Wednesday.

The programme was sponsored by the state regional office of NABARD and implemented by Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT), a NGO, in collaboration with Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).

A total of 30 SHG members have undergone 15 days of training which was arranged in such a way that women attendees could start their own ventures.

NABARD’s District Development Manager Kamal Roy along with Industry Director Dusu Tatu graced the occasion.

ArSRLM block mission manager Ronald Dkhar Bagwar, cluster coordinator John Tage, BLCCT president Chandan Prasad and SHG members also participated.

Roy highlighted different developmental initiatives of NABARD for the upliftment of rural masses in farm and off-farm sectors. He emphasized on production of finished products with market linkage keeping competitive prices.

He congratulated BLCCT for implementing the training successfully and also advised SHG members to frame a business model and start production on a small scale.

Tatu in his address, emphasised on the scope and importance of skill training that would enhance the socio-economic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs.

He also appreciated the support of ArSRLM in the implementation of MEDP.

Bagwar, congratulated the trainees on the completion of MEDP training and also encourage them to become entrepreneurs now.

Tage highlighted the startup village entrepreneurship program, which is a sub-component of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) of the Ministry of Rural Development.

Prasad informed that the training would enable the rural women to improve their skills in producing different types of candles and assured full support on supplying raw materials at a cheaper rate.

The valedictory programme was concluded with certificate distribution to SHGs and sewing machines were handed over by BLCCT to 9 SHG members at a subsidized rate who underwent training on sewing machine operator, sponsored by NABARD.
