Initiative:

Procurement and supply of quality concentrated cattle feed

Beneficiaries:

Farmers and women SHG members, Andaman & Nicobar

The Challenge:

• Very less yield of 3 to 7 litres per day
• Acute shortage of dry fodder
• Scarcity of cross bred milch animals in A & N islands
• Lack of technical skill

The Solution:

• Working and Term loan assistance provided to Adhithi Milk and Agri Producer Co. Ltd. (AMAAPCO) to procure and supply of quality concentrated cattle feed under UPNRM
• Sustained capacity building efforts

The Impact:

• Significant increase in the yield of milk
• AMAAPCO is today the first Farmers Producers Organisation in A & N islands
• Major role played by the agency in procuring milk from rural areas, hygienic packing and distribution
• 2 cattle feed depots in place, supplying concentrate cattle feed
