More power to PACS

Beneficiaries:

2,400 farmers of Kuleilo PACS, Cuttack district, Odisha

The Challenge:

• Farmers unable to realise optimal value from their land due to traditional methods of cultivation, low level of mechanisation and rising labour cost
• Minimal resources with farmers and PACS

The Solution:

• NABARD extended assistance to Kuleilo PACS for setting up an Agro Service Centre (ASC)
• Kuleilo PACS turned into a one-stop shop for agricultural services
• The service centre provided agricultural products and other farm mechanisation implements on hire basis

The Impact:

• Green Mythri with an average daily turnover of about Rs 2 lakh serves nearly 750 customers; also offers online and SMS-based shopping options
• Agricultural services, including hiring of farm machinery, brought to the doorsteps of farmers at a low cost
• Visible improvement in agricultural productivity
• Increase in business of Kuleilo PACS and income of its farmer members
