NABARD & GIZ sign agreements on soil management, climate finance

A team of officials from GIZ, a German development agency, comprising Mr. Konrad Uebelhor, Director, Mr. Farhad Van, Portfolio Advisor to Country Director and Dr. Indraneel Ghosh, Senior Advisor visited NABARD head office in Mumbai on 05 November 2018 and signed two agreements on soil management and climate finance. Mr. Mukesh Thakkar, Chief General Manager, NABARD & Mr. Uebelhor signed the following documents to formalise cooperation between the two institutions under the projects.
 
1. The tripartite Implementation Agreement was signed between GIZ, NABARD & BIRD for setting up Centre of Excellence for Capacity Development on Climate Finance at BIRD, Lucknow.  The cooperation has an allocation of Euro 1 million under this project.
 
2. The Supplementary Agreement II for implementing the GIZ SEWOH ProSoil project “Soil Protection & Rehabilitation for Food Security in India” until September 2022 envisages bringing in additional 10,000 ha of land with an additional allocation of Euro 4.8 million.
 
These initiatives will further strengthen NABARD’s three-decade long association with GIZ.
