Meeting with officials from the Egyptian Central Bank and Commercial Banks on 16 January 2019

A delegation led by the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI), Egypt, comprising 18  officials representing the Central Bank of Egypt, Commercial Banks and Agricultural Bank visited NABARD on the 16th January 2019 to study the latest developments in financing  Agricultural  projects in India. Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI), established by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is an official training arm in developing the skills of financial service professionals of Egypt. The delegation members wanted to understand the various aspects of  Agricultural financing, evolution of agricultural  financing in India,  development of co-operatives ,  latest initiatives, issues and challenges in the agricultural sector including the best practices followed.  The broad areas of interest for the Delegation were as follows:


i. Overview of NABARD and its role in Agriculture and Rural Development
ii. Various aspects of  Agri financing in India,  
iii. Development of co-operatives  and Farmers Cooperatives,  
iv. Latest initiatives, issues and challenges in the operations, 
v. Various  risks and risk mitigating measures and 
vi. International best practices followed. 
 
Shri Jiji Mammen, Chief General Manager, BID and CCD made a presentation on the experiences of NABARD in the area of agricultural finance and interacted with the delegation members. Dr Ravindra, GM made a presentation on the overview of NABARD.
