A delegation led by Her Royal Highness, Princess of Spain Ms. Infanta Cristina the head of the International Division of Caixa Bank Foundation called on Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairman, NABARD at the bank’s headquarters in Mumbai on 24 September 2019. The other members of the delegation included Ms Rianda Bardolets, Director of the Foundation and Mr. Sharad Marathe of UTS, a professional consultancy company. The two sides discussed on the possible collaborations between NABARD and Caixa Bank Foundation in the area of employment generation in agri-linked business.

Chairman introduced the delegates to NABARD’s functions like development of microfinance including digitisation of SHGs. He also touched upon initiatives like watershed development programme, tribal development programme, natural resource management, FPOs, etc. Ms. Infanta Cristina later informed that Caixa Bank Foundation is the third largest foundation in the world. It focusses on programmes concerning transforming society, such as those that fight against child poverty and social exclusion and also which foster employment and help to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable people.
