AP seeks Rs 2000 Cr from NABARD for Nadu-Nedu works

Vijayawada, Mar 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh urged the NABARD to extend Rs 2,000 crore for Nadu-Nedu works being carried out to renovate government schools.
 
NABARD Chairman G R Chintala called on the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office here on Thursday. Mr GR Chintala said that the NABARD is very interested in the infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh State Government and extended their support for effective implementation of these projects.
 
The NABARD Chairman emphasised on developing the food processing industry, making the agriculture sector more profitable, and stated that highest priority will be given to drinking water projects.
 
The officials briefed him regarding Nadu-Nedu works taken up in the government schools across the State. The officials urged the NABARD to support the second phase of Nadu-Nedu works by providing Rs.2,000 crore. The NABARD has given Rs.652 crore for infrastructure development in schools in the first phase of Nadu-Nedu, the officials said.
 
The authorities also explained about the works taking place in Anganwadi centres under the name of YSR Pre-Primary Schools, activities taking place in the medical and health sector, where 16 new medical colleges and super specialty hospitals are being set up. Officials have sought financial assistance from NABARD in regard to supporting these projects.
