Nabard gave state Rs 2,274 cr in 2016-17

AHMEDABAD: The National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (Nabard) sanctioned Rs 2,274 crore in the financial year 2016-17 to Gujarat government for four projects. These projects include Saurashtra-Narmada Avataran Irrigation Yojana (SAUNI) 2 and 4 link pipelines, lift irrigation project from Kadanna reservoir; and Sardar Sarovar canal-based drinking water supply project.


"With this, the cumulative sanctions to Gujarat under RIDF (Rural Infrastructure Development Fund) stand at Rs 22,045 crore. During the current financial year, overall disbursement made to the state government for implementation of the projects sanctioned under various tranches of RIDF was Rs.2118 crore," says an official statement issued by Nabard.


Nabard has also made cumulative sanction of Rs 1,704 crore for infrastructure projects of the state-owned institutions, against which Rs 574 crore had been utilized till March 2017.


"Under the dedicated Long Term Irrigation Fund (LTIF) created during the year 2015-16, financial assistance of Rs 3,611 crore was sanctioned to the government of Gujarat. Against this sanction, state government has drawn Rs 621 crore during the year," Nabard statement says.
