NABARD offers to bolster farm operations

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has embarked upon an ambitious task of doubling the income of the farming community by constituting the Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO) in the integrated Karimnagar district.
 
At an FPO awareness campaign meeting organised at the Karimnagar district cooperative central bank in Karimnagar town on Friday, NABARD general manager C. Uday Bhaskar said that they had decided to constitute 26 FPOs in the first phase under various provisions, including sections of Companies Act of 1956.
 
Ambitious task
 
Overall, they had decided to form 500 FPOs in the State and so far they have formed 359 FPOs to strengthen the farming sector, he stated.
 
Empowering farmers
 
As part of the FPO programme, the NABARD in association with the Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry departments would inform the farming community on various agriculture techniques and also alternate income generation sources by taking up dairy units etc.
 
The NABARD would also provide marketing facilities to the farmers produce with the support of voluntary organisations, he stated.
 
Assistance assured
 
DCCB CEO N. Satyanarayana Rao, district agriculture officer V. Sreedhar, Horticulture officer Srinivas, NABARD DDM Ananth and others have assured all assistance to the farmers. They would help in doubling their income and provide better marketing facilities.
