Area residents to support NABARD campaign

Residents of localities falling in the rural area of the Assembly segment announced to support the movement launched by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) under the banner of “Jal jeevan hai”.

Besides helping organisations in spreading awareness about need of water conservation, volunteers would undertake rejuvenation of water bodies located in their respective areas.

Addressing a function at Boparai Khurad village near here, the deputy general manager of NABARD, MK Jha, said NGOs were being roped in for spreading awareness about causes and consequences of de-functioning of water bodies due to prolonged non-use and silting.

Appreciating gesture shown by office-bearers and activists of Gadri Baba Dulla Singh Giani Nihal Singh Foundation, Jalaldiwal, Jha said the organisation was entrusted the responsibility of reviving water bodies in over 400 villages.

‘Jal jeevan hai’

The campaign aims at spreading awareness on conservation of water, besides undertaking revial of water bodies, which have dried up due to silting and  non-use for a long time.
