Dr. Ajay K. Sood served as Chief General Manager of NABARD, Himachal Pradesh Regional Office, Shimla prior to taking charge as Deputy Managing Director. During his tenure at HP, he focussed on rural infrastructure development through RIDF, Micro Irrigation Fund, Warehouse Infrastructure Fund and other funds, strengthening of rural cooperative banks, computerisation and transformation of PACS as MSC, among other critical initiatives.

Dr. Sood also holds the experience of heading Jammu & Kashmir Regional Office, Jammu. His extensive experience includes working with the Corporate Planning Department, Head Office, NABARD Mumbai and Rajasthan Regional Office, Jaipur; Punjab & Haryana Regional Office, Chandigarh in varying capacities. Prior to joining NABARD, Dr. Sood also served as Scientist with ICAR.

He is a graduate in Agriculture from Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur and PhD degree holder in Agriculture Economics from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi.
