Project Area: e State of Maharashtra has been facing the issue of water scarcity for a very long period. About 84% of
the gross cropped area in the state is rain-fed and more than 30% falls under rain shadow area. According to the Planning
Commission of India, Maharashtra has 30.7% population living below the poverty line as on 2005. e climate
modelling results show that temperature and rainfall are projected to increase all over the state though there are regional
variations. As per district wise vulnerability index of the state,
Nandurbar district is found to have the least adaptive capacity.
Land degradation in Buldhana due to soil erosion has aected an
area of 60.73%.

project is being implemented in 37
villages of Nawapur block in
Nandurbar district and 14 villages of
Deulgaon Raja block in Buldhana Crop destroyed by
district covering 20,000 households. hailstorm in Marathwada
ese are prominently rainfed and
drought prone villages.
