The National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) was established under the Ministry of Environment,
Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India in August, 2015 to meet the cost of adaptation to climate
change for the State and Union Territories of India that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse eects of climate change.
It envisions to scale up climate change adaptation interventions in accordance with the National Action Plan on Climate
Change (NAPCC) and State Action Plans on Climate Change (SAPCCs) aimed at building resilience for vulnerable
communities adversely impacted by climate change.
NABARD, designated as National Implementing Entity (NIE) for implementation of adaptation projects under
NAFCC, is responsible for overall implementation of the projects through its Regional Oces located in the States/UTs.
State Government Departments and Institutions are the Executing Entities of the projects sanctioned under NAFCC. So
far, 30 projects spread over 25 States and 2 UTs are sanctioned by MoEF&CC.
